Well, we are approaching the end of the summer; you can tell as there is a slight autumnal nip in the air, dew on the grass in the morning and the swifts are making their way home. The colours are starting to change with the moors now covered in a purple hue as they are dominated by heather. Our heather moorlands sustain red grouse and many types of moth; including the emperor moth, northern eggar, fox moth, wood tiger and the lover’s knot. From purple on the ground to orange in the skies; we have just had a rather spectacular full moon or supermoon, which was particularly notable for its orangey tones. This change in colour was caused by the North American wildlife smoke sitting in the atmosphere above the UK.
We always feel that the end of the summer and the children going back to school with their new uniforms, pencil cases, bags and renewed enthusiasm has a New Year air about it. If like us you feel it too and fancy learning a new skill, why not come and join us at our Monday and Thursday workshops (10am-12pm) or book a one to one workshop if there is a specific item you would like to create.
